Dinner Club - Gourmet Grill Theme

Bobby and I are fortunate enough to be a part of a monthly dinner club with friends. Great idea right?! Since July was our month, we decided to do a gourmet grill theme. Unfortunately, it started to pour like cats and dogs the day of our dinner, so we had to move everything inside :( Oh well, cause the dinner turned out to be great and most importantly, a ton of FUN!!!

The menu and place card below are made from blank cards i bought at the dollar store, green leftover ribbon, and tan thick card stock i had laying around. I paid $1 for 8 cards and envelopes :) Can't beat that!

If you turn the menu over, i printed the menu items on regular white paper and glued them onto the menus. I know, I know.... What a ton of food!! We didn't think it would take that long to prepare, but boy we were wrong! I'm not going to lie, it was hard work ~ all worth it though.

For the table setting i turned the salad plate so that it would look like a baseball field. It added a little flare of art to the setting.

Bobby and I decided that we would have a wine activity during appetizers so i made cute little labels :)

Here i decided to use the same ribbon i used in the menus to tie everything together.

Since we couldn't have dinner outside, i decided to bring the outside in. I took real grass from our backyard and placed it in square candle holders with water. I think it turned out to be cute!

Simple but stunning!! Sometimes a little flare can be made simple!

Here we are having the salad. Awe...

Cheers to the end of our meal :)

Yummy dessert! Presentation is the key!

The End! Lessons learned? A little bit here and there can definitely add a lot to an event. Also, don't let a little rain destroy a good time... sometimes for us control freaks, we have to learn that you can't control everything... i know... deep breath and smile!

Twilight Craft Night

Since we were doing Twilight for the start of our summer book club and i am completely obsessed with the book(s)... i decided why not host it at my place? I can't take all the credit since two of my friends help me plan it and i got the labels/quotes from 'the hostess w. the mostess'. However, i can take credit for completely turning my whole living room, breakfast area and kitchen into the 'TWILIGHT THEME'. Days prior to the party, the hubby would look at the decor and sigh while shaking his head.

Invites
I created these invites and posted them in a facebook event as well as emailed them to the girls that don't use facebook.

Decorations
Why not go all out on the decor! Enjoy!

I made it really easy for the girls to identify my house :) HA!

For this i used red tissue paper. I scrunched it into a ball and then slowly pull it apart. I printed some photos of RPattz and Kristen and taped them on the tissue. It was really easy and it looked pretty cool.

Yes, i actually did this!

An easy way to customize candles is to print graphics or letters and tape them onto a candle. Obviously, we i did not light these.

Why not make use of fresh apples?

I reused roses and candles from valentine's day. I decided an apple in the middle would be a great idea!

Yummy apple!!

Debbie's 30th Birthday (sex in the city)

Invitations, table cards and booklets!

It was my bestie's 30th birthday and i knew i had to do something cute. The plans were to have a few drinks and head to a trendy restaurant in Chicago. I decided a Sex in the City theme would be perfect for the evening!

Creating table cards that were part of a game I made up was a perfect addition to the 'before dinner drinks' and during dinner!

I created small booklets with questions for the game. And what do you know, that matched the table cards!

I got cute contemporary martini glasses and made....... cosmos of course!!
Debbie and me :)

The girls ready for a fabulous night out!!!

Invitations i made and emailed to everyone!

Valentine's Party 2008

Bobby and I decided to have a valentine's party since all the other major holidays are taken by our friends. 10 of us enjoyed the evening, drinking some wine, eating some good italian food (catered) and playing a newlywed game :O) I did make my favorite though. RED VELVET cake!!! :)

I wanted to create a romantic feel for the evening. What better than roses, rose petals and candles. We even brought out the good china!

I made cute little table cards that were placed in the wine glasses.

Of course, i had to create some menus!!

I wish i would have taken the picture before i cut into it... oh well! We had vanilla ice cream with it :)

We are so silly...

Here we are playing the game....
